2024 Bow Tie Holiday Ornament

Dr. Pearse Lyons wore many hats, and even more bow ties. He founded Alltech with a passion and a purpose, and he often advised his friends to “do what makes your heart sing.” Dr. Lyons found his heart’s song in making a difference in agriculture and the lives of others.

In honor of his 80th birthday, which would have taken place on Aug. 3 this year, this ornament is the first in a series that commemorates the life of Dr. Lyons. Each iconic bow tie has been designed based on his actual collection.

This particular bow tie was sourced for Dr. Lyons by John Byrne, a senior sales executive for Louis Copeland and Sons, a premier Irish clothier dating back four generations. Dr. Lyons asked for a tie that celebrated science, and Mr. Byrne responded with this vibrant blue and-gray print featuring a molecular structure, adding a matching
pocket square. Dr. Lyons always wanted to make science fun, and he brought it to life every day, including through the lectures he gave around the world, his interactions with customers and colleagues, and the more than 15 classroom science laboratories he built together with his dear wife, Deirdre.
